Description |
Rolex Cellini 3805 "TV shaped" 18kt White Gold 750 Bark Finish and Filigree Vintage Circa 1971 Birth Year. This Rolex Cellini 3805 has a high-grade, manually wound, Rolex caliber 1600 movement. It's rhodium-plated with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 19 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance that adjusts for cold, heat, and 5 positions and also has a shock absorber mechanism. The case markings (inside) feature: Montres Rolex S.A., Geneve, Switzerland, 3805.
Rolex designed the Cellini to be the preeminent symbol of elegance and performance. A premier dress watch, this Cellini has an 18K white gold case and silver dial with 18K white gold markers. The dial is very attractive and has developed patina around the periphery. The solid 18kt White Gold case features a bark finish and detailed filigree intricacy. Fitted on a bespoke black alligator leather strap and tongue steel buckle. The Rolex Cellini line takes its name from the 16th century goldsmith Benvenuto Cellini whose most well-known work includes his 1543 Saliera, or Salt Cellar, made for Francis I, the King of France. Used in Rolex advertising in the 1980s, "the king gasped in amazement" upon receiving the object, and it's to this standard that Rolex aimed at creating Cellini watches. The line traces its roots back to the late 1960s and the King Midas Rolex, which was not branded as a Cellini but served as inspiration for the dress models when they hit the catalog in the 1970s. Rolex's Cellini was the brainchild of Rene-Paul Jeanneret and André Heiniger, corporate leaders who are largely credited with turning Rolex into a luxury brand after Hans Wildorf's passing in 1960. The Cellini lineup of dress watches went a long way in marketing materials and within the mind of the consumer to see Rolex as luxury rather than purely as a utilitarian watchmaker. This Rolex Cellini dates to the 1970s and is encased in solid 18k white gold. As a classic Cellini shape, the geometry is really ingenious. Overall, this is an extremely comfortable watch to wear, slipping under the cuff of a shirt gracefully. For more than a century, Rolex has stood apart as the most legendary brand of watch in the world. You have the unique opportunity of buying a Rolex Rolex Cellini 3805 from your Birth Year. This is an amazing gift for a Special Birthday, Wedding or Anniversary. A Rolex watch made in the same year that you were born is a special thing. |
