Description |
Patek Philippe 5140J Grand Complication Perpetual Calendar 18kt Yellow Gold Rare Novelty Discontinued Edition, Opaline "Argente Obus 12" Dial with Gold Applied Faceted Baton Hour Markers and Outer Engraved Minute Divisions. The sub dial for twenty-four hours with the days of week is at 9 o'clock, the months with leap year is at 3 o'clock, and the moon phase aperture and days of the month are at 6. Self-Winding Patek Philippe Caliber 240 Q Automatic Movement with Gyromax Balance-Wheel Adjusted to Cold, Heat, Isochronism, and 5 Positions. Transparent Skeleton Exhibition Case Back. Black Alligator Leather Strap with 18kt Yellow Gold Fold-Over Deployant Buckle. 37.2mm with a Thickness of 8.5mm
The Patek Philippe 5140J incorporates a new version of Patek's most well known movement: the Caliber 240 Q, an ultra-thin, automatic perpetual calendar. The timeless elegance of the original ref. 3940 case, first released in the mid-1980's, was adapted in this larger, more contemporary size with a diameter of 37.2mm (as opposed to the 36mm case of its predecessor). The first known Patek Philippe perpetual calendar wrist watch was first made in 1925. The perpetual calendar came in to regular production in 1941 with the reference 1526. Since that time, the essential gentleman’s grand complication has worn many different guises. Replacement of the ultra slim perpetual calendar ref 3940, the larger and now also discontinued ref 5140. Made in an ultra slim 37 mm 18ct yellow gold case with a sapphire crystal glass exhibition case back. Held on a genuine black alligator strap with matching 18ct yellow gold folding clasp with Calatrava cross. Fitted with the Ultra Slim Manufacture calibre 240 Q mechanical self-winding movement with Perpetual calendar, day, date, month, leap year and moon phases in apertures on dial. Silvered dial with applied gold markers and transferred detailing. Finished with a sapphire crystal glass. |
