Embodying the organisation’s global presence as well as providing useful
functionality to cosmopolitan watch connoisseurs, Montblanc introduces
a collection of timepieces dedicated to UNICEF – the United Nations
Children’s Fund. All two models feature Montblanc’s visually arresting
and easy-to-use manufacture complication Orbis Terrarum.
Named after the Latin term for earth, this timepiece presents the
worldtime function on a multilayer dial. The main sapphire crystal dial
shows the continents as viewed from the North Pole with 24 cities
representing the different time zones. With cut-out continents, the disc
displays the oceans in a light blue colour. Underneath, a second disc
indicates the passing of night and day with dark blue and a gradient
of yellow to green. While the central hour and minute hands indicate
the local time of the city set in front of the red triangle at 6 o’clock, the
current time in the remaining time zones is shown on the 24-hour
ring encircling the dial.
Limited to 500 pieces, the collection’s dial variation
show the city names in Chinese characters. The refined
41 mm case made of polished stainless steel with satinated flanks
features the UNICEF logo on the case back and a blue leather wristband,
inspired by the organisation’s signature colour.
