Description

Exotic - Rare - And Absolutely Breathtaking! Super Exclusive World Time from Patek Philippe.
A powerful & striking watch - will definitely draw attention & makes for a great conversation piece.
The Patek World Time is an iconic piece. We are happy to offer one of the rarest Patek "Email Cloisonné" World Timers ever made in 18kt Rose Gold.
Patek Philippe 5131R "Savoir-Faire" World Time Complicated Watch 18kt Rose Gold, "Email Cloisonné" Enamel Painting Depicting Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia, Patek Philippe Caliber 240 HU Self-Winding Movement with World Time 24-Hour and Day/Night Indication for the 24 Time Zones, Approximately 48 Hours of Power Reserve, Brown Crocodile Alligator Strap with Square Scales, 18kt Rose Gold Fold-Over Deployant Buckle, Skeleton Back, 39.5mm
Patek Philippe introduced the world time complication, also known as a “worldtimer”. The early versions of these Patek Philippe world time watches generate seven figure auction results. In more recent years, Patek has offered a few variations. This reference 5131 is by far the most beautiful world time offering from Patek. The dial displays the world map made using the art of cloisonné. Cloisonne watch dials are the efflorescence of the watch dial artisan craft. The process of making each dial is painstakingly manual and involves hundreds of individual steps. Truly, the dial on this watch is art. The 5131R in 18k rose gold is the rarest, by far, of the modern world time production.
The way a true worldtimer like this watch works, is the two-color silver and blue (representing daytime and nighttime) ring with ‘1’ through ‘23’ and the sun at 12 o’clock noon and the moon at midnight, makes one revolution in 24 hours. There are 24 reference cities at the outer edge of the dial, one city representing each of the world’s timezones. The hour in that city is shown on the 24 hour ring which turns counter-clockwise. It’s an ingenious way of displaying the time all over the world instead of the much more limited “GMT” approach.
The case is 18k rose gold and measures 39.5mm diameter by 10.5mm thick. The front and display back crystals are sapphire.
Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philipe Caliber 240 HU with 33 jewels, 22k mini-rotor, 239 individual parts and power reserve of 48 hours. Movement is stamped with the Patek Philippe Seal.
Strap is Patek Philippe crocodile with 18k rose gold Patek Philippe deployant clasp.
Reference 5131 is the successor of reference 5130 and shows three notable differences: use of a distinguishable cloissonné enamel dial, the names of the 24 cities are displayed in Italic type, and the signature Patek Philippe and company location Genève are engraved on the bezel. Only two or three enamellists are able to produce these rare dials for Patek Philippe.
Reference 5131 is equipped with the ultra-thin automatic caliber 240 HU (HU for "Heure Universelle". It features a 22k gold micro-rotor recessed in the back plate.
A modern world time wristwatch, the mechanism dates back to the 1930s when talented Geneva watchmaker Louis Cottier devised it and offered his invention to Patek Philippe. Cottier's ingenuity resulted in the company's now classic references 1415 HU, 605 HU, and 2523 HU.

ONE OF THE RAREST!!!!
No doubt - One of the most sought after Patek Philippe watches ever released.
The unparalleled renown and prestige that Patek Philippe has acquired amongst connoisseurs is not due solely to the perfection of the watches and the resources of knowledge and skill contained in the workshops. This undisputed supremacy also stems from the consistency with which the company has applied its philosophy of excellence ever since it was founded in 1839.
